Tromsø
That slash through the final "o" is important, as sø does not rhyme with "go"!
We arrived in Tromsø in the early afternoon, and spent most of the day doing
the Fløya hike, which is about 600 m to the top of a small mountain overlooking
the city and the water. To climb the mountain, you can use the Sherpa Stairs,
stone steps built by Sherpas from Nepal in 2016-2019.
There is also a regular hiking path, but the stone stairs are definitely pretty cool!
On the way to the mountain:
The view as we climbed:
At the top of the mountain, in addition to the viewpoint, there is a small café, where we enjoyed a break for some sparkling water. For some reason, this drink always tastes better in Europe.
There is a cable car you can ride down the mountain, but we opted to walk down instead, partly on the hiking path and partly on the stone steps. When we reached the bottom, we spent some time exploring the city looking for a good place to eat dinner.
We settled on the Skarvens Biffhuset, where we sampled reindeer steak and whale steak. Delicious, although the flavours were very similar. I am not sure I could tell the difference if I didn't know which was which.
